CORNY CARP FISHING DERBY

1st Annual Corny Carp Fishing Derby


Registration for the Derby
will begin at 5:45 PM in the parking lot next to the swinging bridge.

Eligibility
The derby will be open to children 14 years of age or younger.

Rules

  1. All children competing in the derby will need to have their own fishing tackle and be accompanied by an adult at all times during the derby.
  2. Sweet corn will be furnished for bait. This is the only bait that may be used.
  3. Competition will begin promptly at 6:00 PM and continue until 8:00 PM.
  4. The official weigh-in and fish count will take place at the registration site immediately following the derby.
  5. Children competing in the derby may fish between the railroad trestle and the highway bridge.
  6. All fish entered in the derby must be caught between 6:00 and 8:00 PM in that portion of the river.
  7. Children will be assigned to three age groups; those six years of age or younger, those seven to 10 years of age, and those 11 to 14 years of age.
  8. Prizes will be awarded for the largest carp caught in each age group.
  9. Prizes will also be awarded for the most carp caught in each age group.
  10. The derby will only take place if the river is low. If heavy rains before the derby cause high water flow, the derby will be canceled for safety reasons.
